Garden of Eternal Time

GardenlongInspired by an act of solidarity with a friend dying of cancer, we purchased cemetery plots as a group, then extended the physical plot to an online space in which anyone can memorialize their loved ones in a virtual online cemetery. Other sections of the site invite the visitor to plan their memorial service and funeral in an economic and pragmatic contemplation of death. In so doing, the piece connects to the tradition of Memento Mori or active contemplation of one’s own mortality and a way to reflect on one’s own existence.
