Students continue to apply the fundamental principles required to produce effective design solutions while learning more sophisticated design solutions such as the grid and how to critique work based on the principles; they also learn more about color management in print and electronic mediums. Students gain an understanding of the appropriate software required for both for print and digital media design.

COMA 115 – Media Production I

Students will produce a short sound production demonstrating the correct use of a mixing board in a live environment. They will identify the various controls in a camera and demonstrate their proper use by operating the camera in a variety of shooting situations. They will again identify the various microphone types and use the correct microphone according the microphone properties and the recording situation. Students will identify different lights and correctly use/apply them according to their properties and the recording situation. Students will identify the various cables used for video, audio and power connections and demonstrate how to use them in a safe manner. Students will then edit their shot material on Final Cut Pro demonstrating a basic understanding of the non-linear editing system and its basic functions.
